BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS

1.    No Breakfast

People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level.

This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

 2. Overeating

It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.

3. Smoking

It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High Sugar consumption

Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients

causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.

5. Air Pollution

The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted

air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.

6. Sleep Deprivation

Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.

7. Head covered while sleeping

Sleeping with the head covered will increase the concentration of CO2 (carbon dioxide)

and decrease the concentration of O2 Oxygen) that may lead to the brain damaging effects...

8. Working your brain during illness

Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.

9.. Lacking in stimulating thoughts

Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

10. Talking Rarely

Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain.

The main causes of liver damage are:

1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late

2. Not urinating in the morning.

3. Too much eating.

4. Skipping breakfast.

5. Consuming too much medication.

6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and Artificial   sweetener.

7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil.

8. Consuming raw (overly done)         .___

Top 6 ways to build a wonderful Life

Hello friends,
…..these are the 6 ways to lead a wonderful life….there will be many ways but these are few which I thought would do wonders……

1. Live Below Your Means

There will always be temptation to forsake the future for immediate gratification. We all want to buy that new piece of technology, treat ourselves to an expensive night on the town, or take out a loan for the flashy car we can't afford. It might feel great at the time but rash spending hurts a lot later on.

Enjoy life's simple pleasures and save as much as you can. Expensive things don't create lasting happiness and security. Careful spending will bring you greater leisure and enjoyment in the long run.

2. Put Your Money to Work

Saving is great, but to make the most of your money you need to put it to work. Good investments can be the difference between retiring in your 40's or in your 60's.

A post today at The Simple Dollar really got me thinking. According to Trent's projections, if a person in their early 20's invests 20% of their income in an S&P index fund, the interest they earn will equal their current salary when they reach their early 40's. They could retire without a drop in income!

Wise investing is the surest path to financial independence and it's something everyone can work on. It's definitely an area I'll be devoting more attention to in my personal life and on this blog.

3. Educate Yourself

To be happy we need continuous growth. The best way to grow is life long education. This doesn't mean you need to pursue a doctorate or spend 2 hours reading every day. Self education can be anything that takes you out of your comfort zone. The important part is keeping an open mind and searching for fresh ideas and perspectives.

Education builds over time. It might feel like the bits of wisdom you acquire don't mean much, but over the years they add up to form a wiser, kinder, more interesting person.

4. Develop Lasting Personal Relationships

Suppose you had everything you wanted. Would you be happy without anyone to share it with? The personal relationships we develop with friends and family members are the greatest source of happiness in our lives. Don't forget about them.

Taking the time to cultivate and enjoy personal relationships is essential to longterm happiness. Without the people you care about you'll probably be miserable, no matter how successful you become.

5. Work Towards a Dream You're Passionate About

Even if your life isn't perfect, you can always build towards a goal you're passionate about. If you aren't building towards something, you're probably stagnating. When this happens to me I start to feel like a victim trapped by my own life. The best way to reverse this is working towards a goal.

We can't control everything about our lives, but working towards a goal gives us something positive to focus on and lays the foundation for future success. No matter what your passion is, get out there and start doing something. As Lao Tzu said, even a journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.

Bonus: 6. Stay in Shape

You only get one body. Once it's been ruined there isn't much you can do about it. Exercise to keep the rust off. Avoid excessive consumption of damaging substances and unhealthy foods. It may feel like terrible self denial at the time but enjoying good health in your later years is worth the sacrifice

How to Improve work culture?

Work culture plays an important role in organization success. Hard times push organization to the limit where its culture stands in motivating to survive. Many organizations in India are facing tuff time managing their employee and operations as because of culture not so conducive for changes and flexibility. There are some of the pointers which will help to improve work culture:

1.      Say “thank you” often, and sincerely, face-to-face.

2.      Publicly acknowledge hard work and initiative on the company bulletin board, in the newsletter, during meetings and at company social events.

3.      Offer the option for arriving an hour late on Monday mornings or leaving an hour early on Friday afternoons when possible.

4.      Give bonuses for meeting company financial goals (e.g. money, parties, a trip, etc.). Or, offer time off to an employee who has made a difference.

5.      Acknowledge special events (e.g. birthdays, anniversaries of time employed, accomplishments, etc.) either through cards, company newsletters or meetings.

6.      Administer quarterly reviews and encourage and/or require employees to provide a self-evaluation.

7.      Take time to meet with employees one at a time.

8.      Encourage a sense of ownership in work.

9.      Involve employees in decisions, especially those that will directly affect them, and the quality progress of the company.

10.  Encourage employees to participate in community service programs. Possibly provide incentives for their involvement.

Senior Secondary (12th)

Once you cross your 12th grade you are left with three choices. They are as :

Academics : For the sake of simplifying matter we exclude here the professional courses.
There after one has the option of taking admission into university / college on the basis of educational background. Thus one can opt any of the following.

  1. B.Sc
  2. B.Com
  3. Humanities

This option also stands for those who are willing to take competitive exams or want to pursue Management or Law courses etc.

Professional courses : This includes follow up of the earlier plans of taking up engineering or medical exam. If you think somehow you could not stick to the plan and you don’t want to waste any more time then you have the option of taking up the NDA exam or going for the course like BBA, CPT, Fashion designing etc.

Situation wherein you could do well in the prestigious exam of the engineering or the medical but you still want to pursue the same field then in that case you have several other options too.

Competitive Exams : Barring a few rest of the competitive exams in India seek graduation as the eligibility. To start with you can try for Competitive exams at the all India level viz. Civil services (conducted by UPSC), Banking, Railways, Insurance Sector and Defense etc. but if you want to serve the state you belong to then the state civil services.

Profession : there exist some good professional opportunity after 12th. The special class railways apprentice (SCRA) for those with Math’s background and the NDA for those who are interested to go in for defense services. As a matter of fact defense services offer several
job opportunities after 10+2. Other than this civil services mostly have the clerical grade jobs to offer with senior secondary as the qualification.

Mantras for Success

A lot depends on one’s fate is what most of us believe. Well one cannot altogether undermine this but what ever is in our hands is most of the time underplayed. If we perform well at our end then probably we would always be traveling on the road to success.

Five vital ingredients make the recipe of success. These are as follows

Decision making; Planning; Discipline; Consistency; Determination.

Decision Making :

Simply put it every act of your’s bears some result i.e. has its own prospects and consequence. And you act because you decide to do so. You end up burning your finger if you put your hand in fire. Thus this would be a bad consequence of decision making. This is a very natural phenomenon and is applicable every where. A wrong decision of your’s is never going to bring you the right results.

Most of the failures we meet in life because of some wrong decision attached with that effort at some place or the other.

Now suppose you end up opting science as an optional stream despite of your lack of interest, because of some reasons, you may end up managing to clear your 12th exam but you won’t be able to perform better elsewhere.

Now when such situation arises at a tender age then it duly becomes the responsibility of the teachers and the parents to play vital role in the decision making process of the child.

Planning :

This is another crucial variable that plays a vital role in any successful endeavour. For lack of immaculate planning one usually comes across the unexpected results and happenings. This is not so to say that any planned work or effort does not fail but if well planned then definitely the damage is not that great. For e.g. if an aspirant sets out to prepare for the IIT/JEE exam at the right time with good planning and he is unable to secure good rank in the exam he stands the chances of doing well in the other similar exams.

Besides reducing the damage good planning also saves lots of resources. Time and money to a great extent can be saved by good planning. For e.g. in all probability if you plan well before preparing for any exam the chances of success are quite high. Thus success in one attempt saves your time spend for preparing for the second attempt.

Discipline :

All your effort can go in vain if you lack discipline in life. Not only your effort but you end up as a failure in life. We can also label it as the mother of all virtues. For e.g. if you decide on to become a doctor and start your preparation with good planning but you are not disciplined enough to put in the required number hours to study then probably all your effort may crumble in a short span of time.

Consistency :

This is another variable that should find a place in ones personality necessarily. All your activities that form part of your plan or the road to success need to perform consistently in order to achieve the desired results. For e.g. if your planning says you need to put in five hours to your studies daily then missing out couple of days to that end means that your decision making, planning and discipline are at a receiving end.

Determination :

Undoubtedly a virtue that has made heroes, immortals, legends and kings. The saga of Buddha to Jesus, Alexander to Mahatma Gandhi including the likes of Einstein and Newton stood tall for nothing other than there towering determination to achieve what they wanted at all cost. It won’t be wrong to say that determination is the carrier of success.

10 Ways to Save Money on Toys

Host a toys party. Kids might play with toys for a little while, and then get bored with them. But they're perfectly good toys. To prevent waste, and to save money on getting new toys, invite some friends, family and neighbors to a toys party, asking everyone to bring good toys that they're willing to exchange. Have some food, play games, think up different ways to exchange the toys, and leave with a whole new set of toys, without spending a dime.

Thrift shops. They often have a bad image, but if you check out the thrift shops in your area, you might find that there are some good toys for very cheap. It's worth a look at least.

Rummage sales. You can get some great toys from people who are cleaning out their house or moving. Spend a Saturday looking at different rummage sales in your area. It can be a lot of fun.

Exchange a box with friends. When you notice your kids not playing with toys, just put it in a box in your closet. Ask your close friends to do the same. When the boxes are full, exchange them.

Make your own. Some of the best toys are made by parents. From kites to blocks to forts, if you get creative, you can make some fantastic toys and only spend a fraction of what it would cost to buy. And the best part: your child could help, especially with the decorating.

Shop after Christmas. It's well known that the best deals are the week after Christmas, when the rush is over and stores are trying to get rid of excess inventory. But there are other good sales as well, when stores are closing out, or trying to get rid of old inventory to make way for the new. Keep your eyes open and you can find some great deals.

Green them up. Getting environmentally friendly toys will not only help Planet Earth (and it's never too early to start teaching your kids about the environment), but they're also safer and cheaper in the long run. Avoid harmful PVC material, and look for wood — the toys will last much longer, and are safer for children. Look for simpler toys that don't require batteries. Look for non-toxic paints, and sturdier toys that will last a long time.

Use their imagination. Kids can be amazingly creative. Sometimes they enjoy playing in or with the box the toy comes in more than the toy itself. Give them some paint or beads or glitter and glue, and they can have a blast. Let them play outdoors, and make toys with sticks or other things they find in nature. Make a fort out of bedsheets or a refrigerator box. Let them use their imagination, and old toys can become new again.

Look for coupons or online sites. Do a search here or elsewhere online for discount coupons,.

Reduce your need. The best way to save money on something is to learn to need less of it. Talk to your kids about the cycle of consumerism, about always wanting more and newer toys, about how advertising creates a need in us to buy new stuff, about how it's bad for the environment to keep producing and consuming more and more stuff, about how kids in other parts of the world have to go without toys ... and teach them to spend their time helping others instead of wanting to buy stuff for themselves. It's never too early

75 Painless Money-Saving Tips

  1. Combine your cable, internet and telephone service. Companies now offer combined services that not only cost less, but offer the convenience of a single bill.
  2. Slow down your internet service. I went to the slower internet service option with my cable company and saved $15 per month. And I haven't noticed a difference when surfing the Net.
  3. Send away for and follow up on rebates. After you buy a product with a rebate, send in the form that day. Then mark your calendar to remind yourself to follow up with the rebate company if the check hasn't show up.
  4. Buy a refurbished Mac: I've written about this before because it is a great way to buy not only computers, but iPods and iPhones as well. Convert to a gas water heater. They are more efficient and will save you money in the long run.
  5. Request a reduction in the interest rate for your home equity line of credit. I did and my mortgage company agreed to reduce the rate by more than 0.50%. Request a reduction in the interest rate on your credit cards. As with home equity loans, credit card companies sometimes are willing to reduce the interest rate. It can't hurt to ask.
  6. Refinance you mortgage. If you can reduce your interest rate by one percent or more, it is often beneficial to refinance. This is particularly true for those with high rates due to less than stellar credit scores. If your score has improved, you may qualify for a better rate. I would start by asking your current mortgage lender about lower rates.
  7. Get rid of Private Mortgage Insurance. If your down payment was less than 20%, you are probably paying PMI. Once you have a 20% cushion through reducing your debt and home appreciation (yes, prices do go up from time to time), contact your mortgage company to start the process of removing the PMI.
  8. Get your books from the library. I love books and read every day. While I buy some of the books I read, most come from the library. Simply put, it's hard to beat free.
  9. Get DVDs from the library. Many libraries now have movies on DVD that can be checked out. If your library offers this service, it sure beats paying Blockbuster or Netflix.
  10. Get DVDs from Red Box. If your library doesn't offer DVDs, get your moves from Red Box. It costs just one dollar per night. You find Red Box locations here.
  11. Read magazines at the library or online. Too many magazines can cost a fortune. And how many times have you bought a magazine based on the cover and been disappointed by the lack of substance. At the library you can read magazines for free. And many magazines now offer their content for free online.
  12. Subscribe to magazines that are must reads. If you must have a certain magazine each month, subscribe. Subscriptions offer substantial savings over the cost at the newsstand.
  13. Buy your car over the internet: Search the internet for information on the car you want and then send e-mail requests to dealers for the best price. Even if the dealer is located in another state, the cost to have the car delivered may still be worth it. I paid $500 to have a Honda Odyssey shipped 500 miles and still saved $1,000 over the best local price available.
  14. Request a discount on trash service. For some reason this is a highly competitive business. If you get a better offer in the mail for trash service, call your current trash company and ask them to beat the offer. My trash service has reduced its rates twice in six months to match competing offers.
  15. Never pay checking account fees. I hate bank fees. With so many free checking account plans available, there's no reason to pay a fee. And if the bank happens to charge you one, ask them to reverse the fee or take your business to another bank.
  16. Get a rewards card. There are many reward cards that pay out in cash or points that can be redeemed for travel or products. Many of these cards don't have an annual fee. I recently traveled to my college reunion for free using points earned from a credit card. My favorite rewards card is American Express Gold Card.
  17. Don't pay interest on credit cards. This is obvious, but I soon as you fail to pay off the credit card in full, the high interest payments start to eat away at your monthly budget. If the temptation to spend more than you can pay on a credit card is to great, get rid of the credit card (and ignore the previous tip!).
  18. Take advantage of 0% credit card offers. I've saved thousands of dollars using 0% balance transfer credit cards. Again, as long as the cards won't cause you to spend more, they can offer substantial savings. Make sure, however, that you keep an eye on the balance transfer fee, which can wipe out your savings.
  19. Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent light (CFLs) bulbs. These bulbs use 75% less energy and last 10 times longer. They do take some getting used to, and they won't work in every light fixture. But use them where it makes sense and save energy and money.
  20. Drive your car longer. The buy new versus used debate often overlooks the most important factor--how long you own your car. Drive it as long as you safely can for substantial savings.
  21. Pay your life insurance annually. Insurance companies charge you more if you pay monthly, quarterly or semi-annually. Pay once a year and you'll pay less.
  22. Pay car insurance semi-annually. At least with my car insurance, they offer quarterly and semi-annual payment options. It costs more to pay quarterly, and twice a year is more convenient anyway.
  23. Increase insurance deductibles. Most of us don't need to be insured for all losses over $100 on our car, for example. Although we wouldn't want to pay a $250 or even $500 deductible, we could. If that's you, find out how much you'd save from raising your deductible. I've raised my deductibles on my auto insurance and home owner's insurance and saved a considerable amount.
  24. Think before submitting an insurance claim. My rule of thumb is that I won't submit a claim on a loss that is less than twice my deductible. So for a $250 deductible on an auto loss, I'll pay out of pocket any loss up to $500. Why? The $250 I'd receive from my insurance company is not worth the increased premiums I'm likely to pay. You may want to call your insurance agent to find out how a claim will impact your premiums before filing the claim.
  25. Get rid of your home telephone. This is a great way to save money. Many don't do it because of the 911 service, and that's understandable. But if you're comfortable relying on a cell phone, there's no reason to keep a land line. If you do, consider reducing your service to the minimum and only use the phone in an emergency.
  26. Consider VOiP telephone service. We use Internet phone service and have saved substantial money over Verizon service. The phone service has been very reliable, and you'd never even know the signal was being carried over the Internet. Phone Power is a great option for internet telephone service, which costs as little as $9.95 a month. Note that the Phone Power sign-up page will have an entry for a promo code. I've talked to the good folks at Phone Power, and they tell me there are no promo codes; they offer the best price to everybody!
  27. Shut vents in unused rooms. This isn't advisable if you have forced air heating, but shutting vents in unused rooms can save on your heating and cooling bill.
  28. Eliminate some cable service. Note that I'm not recommending getting rid of cable completely, although that's certainly a way to save money. If you must have cable, take a look at all the charges on your cable bill and consider getting rid of some of the service. Try it for a month and see if you really miss those last 500 channels.
  29. Agree to limit gift giving. At Christmas our extended family and we go overboard when it comes to gift giving. Agree in advance to limit the gifts and save everybody some money.
  30. Get healthy. Your health will directly impact the cost of life insurance and, in some cases, can reduce the cost of your health insurance.
  31. Cancel the health club membership. Seems to contradict the previous tip, but evaluate how much you really use your health club. Less expensive options may include a gym at your work or a gym at your local parks and recreation center. Some offer pay as you go options rather than monthly fees, which can be great for those of us who aren't as consistent in our routines as we'd like to be.
  32. Pass on extended warranties. A $129 two year extension on a $300 product is just not worth it. Warranties are insurance, and we rarely need to insure such a small amount.
  33. Take your lunch to work one more day a week than you do now. Eating out at lunch is fun, so I wouldn't eliminate it completely. But taking lunch just one more day a week will keep money in your pocket.
  34. Buy low cost mutual funds. This is easy to miss because the money doesn't come out of your pocket each month. But keep an eye on the cost of the mutual funds in your 401(k) and other investments. My rule of thumb is that no fund should cost more than 1% and the combined cost for all your funds should be less than 0.50%. If you don't believe that even a half percent can make a big difference, read this.
  35. Take advantage of employer 401(k) matches. If your employer matches 401(k) contributions, do everything you can to take full advantage of that match.
  36. Use flexible spending accounts. FSAs allow you to pay certain medical, dental and child care expenses using pre-tax dollars. If your not taking advantage of these accounts, you're wasting money. Enrollment at many companies is occurring now, so check with your HR department if you have any questions about FSAs.
  37. Get tires from Costco or other wholesale clubs. Simply put, they cost a lot less than buying them at the dealer or even a chain tire store.
  38. Keep tires properly inflated. It keeps you safe and costs less on gas.
  39. Stop smoking. Need I say more?
  40. Drink less alcohol. It costs money and ads calories.
  41. Buy term life insurance. Any other life insurance product is just not worth the extra cost.
  42. Buy generic over-the-counter medicines. They are exactly the same as their branded counterparts and cost less.
  43. Get organized and avoid missed payments. I've missed a payment or two because the bill got buried beneath a stack of papers. Get organized and avoid those late payment penalties. If you do miss a payment, call your creditor and ask to have the penalty removed. They'll usually accommodate the request, at least the first time.
  44. Buy online when it saves you money. I've used Amazon to buy more than just books. It sells just about anything and sometimes at substantial savings.
  45. Consider MythTV PVR in replace of TiVo type services. I just ran across MythTV and am still investigating it. I pay $15 a month to my cable company for a DVR box and would love to save the money. If you've used MythTV, let us know how well it works. You can get more information about MythTV here.
  46. Use Open Source software when possible. I use GIMP instead of Photoshop. GIMP is free; Photoshop ain't.
  47. Check the insulation in your home. Extra insulation can easily pay for itself in one or two years, and it helps save the environment, too.
  48. Buy energy efficient appliances. Look for the Energy Star on appliances and consider the annual energy cost before buying. More efficient appliances cost more, but you make up the extra cost and then some over the life of the product.
  49. Stay married. Yes, I did say 51 "painless" money-saving tips. Yes, I know that some marriages end because of abuse and other extreme circumstances. "Isn't marriage about love", you ask. Sometimes. "You don't know my situation", you say. True. But I lived through the emotional and financial pain of two divorces as a child, and I've been married to the same women for more than 19 years, so I know plenty. Am I telling you not to get a divorce? Of course not. I am telling you that divorce will wreck your finances and your spouse's finances.
